Technical reports of four practical exercises must be submitted in order to successfully complete the course (see the course description/syllabus for details).

Syllabus

The course is primarily intended for Erasmus students. It covers various topics of Remote Sensing (RS), Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and Cartography:

  1. Introduction to Remote Sensing
  2. RS data: USGS archives (Landsat, MODIS), Sentinel-2A*
  3. Land cover classification*
  4. RADAR remote sensing
  5. 3D point clouds
  6. Copernicus land service, RS Big Data and Cloud computing (Google Earth Engine and Sentinel Hub Apps)
  7. Open GIS and Open Data
  8. Challenges of modern cartography
  9. Project in cartography*
  10. Spatial Data Analysis using GIS
  11. Automation of spatial data processing and analysis*

To complete the course and to get credits you shall:

  • Participate at the lectures (two absences are accepted)
  • Deliver 4 assignments in topics marked with * (Remote Sensing – 2, GIS & Cartography – 2) before 23rd May of the respective academic year.
