Introduction to Probability and Mathematical Statistics and Their Applications in Biology. This course is primarily designed for second-year students in biological fields. The main objective is to familiarize students with the principles of statistical reasoning, foundational hypothesis testing, and statistical modeling. Practical seminars are held in computer laboratories using the RStudio statistical software. Students are expected to learn how to independently apply standard biostatistical methods; using students' own real-world data during seminars is highly encouraged.

Course assessment methods and requirements for successful completion, grading scheme -

Credit requirements: Active participation in seminars (maximum of 3 permitted absences). Completion of 3 homework assignments in accordance with the instructor's guidelines.

Examination: The exam consists of a practical part and an oral part, both held in a computer laboratory. The student independently solves several statistical problems and then in the oral part explains the solutions and answers the follow-up questions from the examiner.
