Invited local and foreign experts present the latest findings from their research work in geological fields. Students present their results to date in the course of their student thesis.

Requirements to the exam -
Attendance at 75% of the seminars (in person or online, if applicable) and active participation in the post-lecture discussion is required to receive credit. For students of the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology, it is mandatory to present the results of their student thesis to date, if the institute has scheduled their lecture in a given semester. Students will always be informed of the presentation schedule for a given semester by an email sent in advance at the beginning of the semester.

K získání zápočtu je nutná účast na 75 % seminářů (prezenčně nebo případně online) a aktivní zapojení do diskuze po přednášce. Pro studenty Ústavu petrologie a strukturní geologie je povinné prezentování jejich dosavadních výsledků závěrečné práce, pokud je ústavem jejich přednáška v danném semestru plánována. O plánu prezentací na danný semestr budou studenti vždy informováni předem zaslaným emailem na začátku semestru.

Syllabus -
The course takes the form of a seminar, combining lectures by experts and students of the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology. Invited local and foreign experts present the latest findings from their research work in geological fields. Students present their results to date in the course of their student thesis. The student lecture can also be conceived in a discussion form, raising the student's research questions and discussing with the audience possible solutions to the problem. The student also presents planned future steps in the process of solving his/her thesis.
The seminar timetable of invited experts is announced on the web site of the Institute of Petrology and Structural Geology and is open to public audience.

Předmět má formu semináře, který kombinuje přednášky odborníků a studentů Ústavu petrologie a strukturní geologie. Pozvaní domácí i zahraniční odborníci prezentují nejnovější poznatky z jejich výzkumné práce v geologických oborech. Studenti prezentují jejich dosavadní výsledky v průběhu plnění jejich závěrečné studentské práce. Studentská přednáška může být také pojata diskuzní formou, nadnesením otázek daného výzkumu studenta/studentky a diskuzí s publikem nad možným řešením problematiky. Student/ka také prezentuje plánované budoucí kroky v postupu řešení své závěrečné práce.
