Annotation
The course covers main aspects of exploitation of metallic ore deposits. It introduces principles of ore formation processes, geology and mineralogy of main deposit types, and main exploration and mining methods.
Environmental topics cover characterization, monitoring, disposal and treatment of sulphidic wastes and mine waters.

  1. Society and raw materials (consumption, prices, markets). Introduction to ore deposists.
  2. Magmatic systems and related ores (Cr, Pt, diamonds).  
  3. Hydrothermal systems related ores (Au-Ag, Cu, Pb-Zn).
  4. Sedimentary ores (Fe, Mn).
  5. Mineral deposit exploration and exploation.
  6. Introduction to mine wastes.
  7. Sulfidic mine wastes.
  8. Mine water.
