The field of security is very broad, and of course, demography, as a broad-spectrum science, is also concerned. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the security system of the Czech Republic and subsequently to introduce the practical use of demography for the needs of the state security policy. In the project part, students are faced with the problem of a real civil servant or an analyst - a demographer dealing with policy papers and conceptual work. The problem is: some data is available, but not all that is needed, there is no clear assignment and there is a very small window of time for the study. The result of the subject and thus what the student / student brings with him / her into further study is a theoretical introduction to the functioning of the state in the area of internal security, introduction to the creation of conceptual materials in the state administration and broadening the horizons of possible application practice of demography.

Requirements to the exam

The course is completed by an exam.
The student will elaborate a written paper in the form of a short study on a selected topic in the field of internal security, in which he / she will apply demographic methods and procedures. The work should be about ten standard pages of the text itself (18 000 characters including spaces). The work can also be processed by a group of authors (18 000 characters basic text + 9 000 characters for each additional author). The deadline for submitting the work is the end of the semester. The author evaluates the author's contribution and originality, the ability of a coherent concept and logic of the structure, the application of professional concepts, the use of resources and formal arrangements. In the case of work by a group of authors, the rating is the same for all authors. The condition for evaluation is regular active participation in seminars.
