The lecture gives an overview of organisms inhabiting inland waters focusing namely on their ecology and role in the ecosystems. It covers microbiological communities, phytoplankton, macrophytes, aquatic invertebrates (plankton, benthos, pleuston) and vertebrates. The lecture is intended for students of nonbiological study programmes.
