This course is targeted on general biology audience with an interest in immunology, genetics and human diseases. The aim of this course is to review, deepen and solidify your knowledge in immunopathology and clinical immunology by presenting and discussing authentic examples of patients suffering from diverse genetically inherited immune disorders.
Each lecture features 3-4 different but related individual case studies, briefly describing patients’ symptoms, clinical examination, medical history, and therapeutic treatments. Based on this information we try to determine which part of the immune system is dysfunctional and diagnose the specific disease. We then discuss cellular and molecular mechanisms leading to the specific disorder, as well as possible genetic predisposition. We then compare how much the human phenotype resembles phenotypes in corresponding mouse models.

Kurz probíhá 8 dní v letním semestru (většinou červen-červenec) ob rok - 2019, 2021, 2023...
Tento kurz je zaměřen na obecné biologické publikum se zájmem o imunologii, genetiku a lidská onemocnění. Cílem tohoto kurzu je zhodnotit, prohloubit a upevnit své znalosti v imunopatologii a klinické imunologii prezentováním a diskusí autentických příkladú pacientů trpících různými geneticky dědičnými imunitními poruchami.
Každá přednáška obsahuje 3 až 4 různé, ale související individuální případové studie, stručně popisující symptomy pacientů, klinické vyšetření, anamnézu a terapeutické ošetření. Na základě těchto informací se snažíme určit, která část imunitního systému je dysfunkční a diagnostikovat konkrétní nemoc. Pak se budeme zabývat buněčnými a molekulárními mechanismy vedoucími ke specifické poruše, stejně jako možnou genetickou predispozicí. Poté budeme srovnávat, jak se fenotyp lidského fenotypu podobá fenotypům odpovídajícím myším modelům.

The examination will proceed at the end of the course using a Single best answer test - only one answer is the best. You will get 1 point for each correct answer.
Grade 1 is for >85%, grade 2 is for >70%, grade 3 is for >55%.
