Annotation -
Please note, the lectures are given in czech language only.

The lecture summarizes up-to-date advances in the understanding of physiological mechanisms and selective forces that shape the evolution of adaptations to changes in biotic and abiotic factors of environment with respect to species-specific limits in animals including humans. Special attention is given to molecular ecology and biochemistry as tools to analyse gene expression as a character on the phenotypic level of biological resolution. Given principles are used to further the understanding of complex systems such as reproduction and population cycling.
The prerequisit of this lecture is some of this basic lectures: B150P07 or B150P26B or B150P37 or B150P60.

Syllabus -

Key words and main topics of the lecture: Biosphere, biotic and abiotic factors of environment. Stress, physiological mechanisms, adaptation and limits. Radiation, electro-magnetic spectra, the sun, light, biological rhythms. Temperature, bioenergetics, mechanisms and adaptations to temperature changes, hibernation, thermoregulation. Acoustic waves, noise. Adaptations to the changes in atmospheric and hydrostatic pressure and volume of gaseous parts in the atmosphere. Gravitation and its influence to living organisms. Economy in nature will be demonstrated using the theory of games and density dependence as phenomena necessary for the understanding of social life and social behaviour. Detailed analysis of temporal structure of individual behaviour is used in theories explaining benefits and costs of individual and social activities.
