Annotation -
The course examines the dynamics of life as a space in which inner authentic existence intersects with the external structures of social reality. The introductory philosophical section provides a framework for a sociological reflection on the stages of life. The course explores an individual’s journey from their “anchoring” in family and childhood, through the phase of professional and social “self‑realization” in adulthood, to the existential challenges of old age and the limits defined by concepts of normality and disability. The reflection also includes an analysis of the tension between personal forces (the individual desire for meaning and freedom) and structural forces (the demands of institutions, the labor market, and cultural norms). The aim of the course is to understand how social systems co‑shape our life trajectory, while also seeking possibilities for maintaining integrity and creating space for one’s own recovery and personal growth within these structures.
