The purpose of the course in the first semster is to present the students the principles of the evolution of the
architecture in the ancient Greece, Etruria and Rome. The students are introduced the basics of all important
architectural orders, applied in these areas. It is followed by the presentation of the most significant buildings, since
the first emergence of the monumental architecture, orientalizing period, up to the late antiquity. The students will
be presented also the basic types of the private as well as the public buildings. The course opens up also the
question of the origins of the urban planning and the towns origins, including the used building technologies. The
final parts of the course deals with the problems of the influence of the antiquity architecture on the architecture of
later periods up to the present.
