The goals are to familiarize students with the region's unique political challenges and historical context, develop analytical skills for assessing foreign policy, and enhance the ability to discuss current Middle Eastern issues from various theoretical perspectives. Students will also work on composing a research paper that addresses a critical issue in the Gulf region, and by the end of the course, should be equipped to evaluate and articulate the complexities of Gulf politics both orally and in writing.
