Annotation
This course is aimed at students who wish to develop a level of competence in contemporary Czech language sufficient for communication and comprehension of A1 level according to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The appropriate skills of speaking and writing in Czech are covered. The course focuses on building vocabulary and grammatical structures. Communication skills are the immediate focus of the course, and students will work toward reading, understanding and discussing simple Czech texts as the semester progresses.

Aim of the course

Students A1 objectives are understanding and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. They can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know and things they have. They can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Teaching methods

It is a Seminar, using the communicative approach, when students are involved in real communication, in the form of audio, video, mini dialogs, reading of adapted short texts, authentic recordings and communication situations, visualizations, videos, etc.

The Final Test completion, 2 absences max., conditional completion of Czech Language course 1 / Receptive Language skills 1 / Productive Language skills 1

Final Test:

 Grammar Part - verbs - present, past, future tense

                                    nouns - Accusative sg., pl, + Locative sg.

                                    prepositions (do-na-k (kam), na-v (Kde), v (time expressions), za (price))

 Writting part - 1. text (20 words) - describing picture

                      2. text (50 words) - letter for friend
