Annotation
In this course, students learn and practice quantitative research methods. The aim is to let students go through the whole research process and to teach them in a "learning by doing" way. Students conduct research in small teams of 3-5 students. At the end of the semester, each team submits a final report.

This course will be held in the Jinonice building, room B228, on Thursdays from 12:30 to 13:50, starting on February 20, 2025 and ending on May 15, 2025.

Aim of the course

The objectives of the course are:
a) Understand the nature and purpose of social research and the importance of its methodology
b) Learn survey research concepts/vocabulary/terminology
c) Understand the basic methodology of survey research

Syllabus

Course Schedule:


Week 1-3: Designing the research; defining the research objectives and reviewing the relevant concepts
Week 4-6: Preparing the research instrument; pilot testing; planning the fieldwork
Weeks 7-9: Fieldwork; data processing
Weeks 10-12: Analysis of findings; preparation of final report; final reflection and self-evaluation
