The aim of the seminar is to learn and practice how to build and deliver a presentation of academic works in English. A crucial prerequisite for passing the seminar is at least intermediate command of both general and sociological English. Familiarity with MS PowerPoint is an asset, not a prerequisite. Apart from the topics stated in the syllabus, a multitude of exercises focused on speaking skills will form part of the seminar. In addition to the list of literature other texts intended for presentations will be used; students will be able to choose a text based on their own sociological specialization.

Prerequisites : At least intermediate command of both general and sociological English (the course is not appropriate for beginners and lower intermediate students) Familiarity with MS PowerPoint is an asset, not a prerequisite as ost of the examples will be shown in that programme.

Requirements : Regular attendance (3 absences maximum; elaboration of all exercises and homework; active participation. Two presentation minimum (a trial one and an assessed one).
