Kurz se zaměřuje na problematiku teorie koalic s důrazem na analýzu vývoje interpretací koaličních vztahů v demokratických parlamentních systémech. Jeho předmětem je problematika teorie her, teorie koalic, teorie veto players a možností jejich aplikace. Cílem je uvést studenty do problematiky základních teoretických konceptů, které jsou využívány k analýze koaličních vazeb mezi aktéry. Důraz je kladen především na genezi interpretací koaličních vztahů a na osvojení si teoretických znalostí a možností jejich aplikace.

Předmět si klade za cíl seznámit studenty s problematikou analýzy koaličních typů vládnutí v současných parlamentích demokraciích, a to prostřednictvím přehledu relevantních teoretických konceptů. Vedle základních teoretických konceptů a přístupů teorií her, racionální volby a koalic budou studenti seznámeni také s fenomény na to navazujícími, jako např. s metodologickými limitami alokace portfolia pod.
