Předmět je zaměřen na bezpečnostní problémy od 90. let 20. do současnosti. Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s bezpečnostními hrozbami narušující stabilitu v období po skončení studené války. Kurz se zaobírá příčinami, rozdělením hrozeb, možnostmi jejich řešení a zajištění bezpečnosti na bázi jednotlivých států a mezinárodních organizací. Důležitou otázkou je nejen přímé zapojení velmocí, ale také nepřímé podporování znepřátelených stran ve vnitrostátních konfliktech.
Jedná se o praktické dopady kroků a chování hráčů na světovém kolbišti při rozdmýchávání a urovnávání konfliktů ve snaze posílit vlastní vliv a naopak oslabit vliv ostatních protihráčů v dané oblasti. Na konkrétních případech k jednotlivým tématům je možno odvodit obecnější principy chování států v závislosti na jejich strategických zájmech, ekonomických, politických, technologických a vojenských možnostech.

Cílem předmětu je seznámit studenty s bezpečnostními hrozbami narušující stabilitu v období po skončení studené války. Kurz se zaobírá příčinami, rozdělením hrozeb, možnostmi jejich řešení a zajištění bezpečnosti na bázi jednotlivých států a mezinárodních organizací. Studenti při přípravě svých referátů mohou do této problematiky hlouběji proniknout a aplikovat získané informace.
