The course is aimed at bachelor and master programme students who have to or want to study the course German for Social Studies and they need to get to a required level first.
Students of IES cannot enrol in this course, they can enrol in German for Economists pre-intermediate instead.
This course is preceded by German foundation course III and IV.

Aim of the course -

The course is aimed at deepening the knowledge of the general language. Emphasis will be placed on expanding vocabulary and improving communication skills, deepening grammar, reading and listening comprehension of academic vocabulary, realia and topics relevant to this language level.

Seminar
Cooperative methods and social forms (e.g. partner and group work, discussion, brainstorming) are used in the teaching. Students are expected to take an active approach to the seminar.

Requirements to the exam -

Conditions for receiving the credits:

- active work during the semester with three allowed absences
- A written test aimed at a) mastering grammar, b) mastering vocabulary in the topics covered, c) understanding the reading, and d) expressing an opinion on the topic. The length of the test is approximately 60 minutes, with a minimum pass rate of 65%.

Entry requirements -

Students will be admitted to the seminar on the basis of an entrance multiple choice test, which will be taken only in the first class on Friday 6 October at 11 a.m. in room B328.

Priority will be given to students who are required to take the follow-up courses German for Social Sciences I and II.
