Czech for Intermediate I. covers the level A2 /B1. The textbook you can find here: https://fsv.cuni.cz/en/study/language-centre/czech-foreigners-textbook, in this course will be covered lesson 8-14 (topics: What to do when we are sick, How to apologize, How do we look like and what do we wear, How do we plan, What we do on a visit).

Considering organization:24 classes are held twice a week, one lesson lasts 80 minutes, cca 40 minutes students complete their self- study duties. It's necessary to take both lessons per week. The course takes place for 12 weeks during regular faculty term.
The price for course is 4800 CZK (equivalent to cca. 180 Euro)
FSV students enrolled in bachelor's and master's programmes offered in foreign languages who cover their own tuition are exempt from the fee.
In case You miss first two classes without any apology, active students from the waiting list get automatically Your place.

The aim of this course is to extend student's communicative knowledge, a student should be able to react and communicate in many different communicative situations in a simple way.

Teaching methods -

Like in each Czech course the emphasis is put on speaking and understanding. Students work in couples or groups, they do presentations with questions for colleagues, they watch teasers from Czech movies, read Czech newspaper. During lessons short video spots are used that help students to be well oriented in a given communicative situation.

80 minutes of interactive studying with a teacher, reamining 40 minutes of self studies.

 

Prerequisite for obtaining 6 ECTS credits and en exam is active participation in the course (in case of online studies functional camera, functional microphone).

 

Of the total number of courses it is necessary to complete a minimum of 18 courses , it is possible to have at maximum of three absences (whenever the student needs it) other absences only with a confirmation of the doctor.

 

We require an active approach, ie.

- complete all assigned tasks during the lesson

- complete all homework

- midterm (after 6 weeks of the term)

- final (after 12 weeks of the term)

- oral exam evaluated on a scale A-E (100%- 50%)

 

In case all mentioned obligations are not met, final grade is reduced by on degree 

 

 

Final test (60min): required grammar and vocabulary 

Oral exam topics: Travelling, Vacation, Living, Housing, Compliment, Wish, Emotion, etc.

Final score is consisted of attendance, performance in class, midterm test and final exam - oral and written part. 

A 75% attendance is requiered.

The assessment scale:

0-50 % = F 
51-60 % = E 
61-70 % = D 
71-80 %=C 
81-90 %=B
91% and more=A

Students should be familiar with the present tense, past tense and future tense, accusative, genitive, locative and instrumental case (sg. forms). During the first lesson students need to take a level test.
