French for Social Sciences II designed to follow JLB035 course (French for Social Sciences I) taught in winter semester, in other words the course is designed for the students who attended JLB035 course and obtained a credit or whose eligibility has been assessed in a different way prior the enrolment.

Aim of the course -

 

he aim of the course is similar to that of the French I course in ZS due to the continuity of the courses.

* learn to understand in depth a shorter journalistic or professional article, be able to perceive what is "behind the text"

* be able to write a shorter résumé, summarize the content of the article orally, discuss it and give your own comment

* improve your communication skills and gain more confidence when speaking

* consolidate more complex grammatical and lexical structures

* learn to think about grammatical phenomena within the text and be able to derive grammatical rules or regularities independently

A seminar based on text and video analysis followed by a discussion and oral and/or written summary; students will be encouraged to communicate and work in pairs or small groups.

Requirements to the exam -

To obtain a graded course credit in the summer semester, the requirements are as follows 

to be actif and regularly present in the classes, studying regularly the material and sending in the time the homeworks:  20%

to have a presentation or another oral production (more informations during the first lesson): 15%

to do some written production: 15%

to pass 2  TESTS (contrôle continu; 45 minutes, 65 %) or the Final test (60 minutes, 65 % at minimum) : 50%

The assessment scale:

0-50 % = F 
51-60 % = E 
61-70 % = D 
71-80 %=C 
81-90 %=B
91% and more=A 

A - outstanding performance with only minor errors, B - above the average standard but with some errors, C - generally sound work with a number of notable errors, D - fair but with significant shortcomings, E - performance meets the minimum criteria, F - fail – considerable further work is required

Students who are unable to attend class regularly for serious reasons have the opportunity to arrange an individual plan with the teacher before the start of the semester.

Enrolment is conditional on having obtained a credit in FRENCH FOR SOCIAL SCIENCES I JLB035 course or assessment of the required knowledge prior the enrolment. The required knowledge - level B1 + JLB035 course.
