The course is designed for BA and MA students. The objective of the course is to expand students´ vocabulary necessary for understanding academic texts related to the above mentioned disciplines.
Emphasis is also put on the revision of grammatical structures and the ability of students to express their ideas in cultivated German ? both oral and written.

The lessons take the form of a seminar based on discussions, presentations and exercises.

Requirements to the exam -

The exam consists of a grammar and vocabulary test (key words from topics studied in the lessons - politology, international relationship, Austrian and German studies), a short translation from Czech to German (to be practised during the lessons) and an essay, 250 - 300 words, the choice from three topics.

Oral part: a newspaper article summary

Students who do not attend the seminars need to contact the teacher and arrange the topic and time of their oral presentation.

Students who want to attend this course need to be at B2 or at least B1 level. They should be able to understand longer speeches, articles and news. They should be able to give their opinion and join in the conversation dealing with general topics. They should be able to write a text without serious grammatical and lexical mistakes.
