Annotation
The course familiarises students with developmental tendencies of the photographic medium since beginning till these days. It concentrates on photographic styles and photographers who have significantly influenced the development of photography, discuss problems associated with the advent of digital technology and their influence on the development of photography. Basic theoretical concepts are described. Active participation of students in classes is expected. Students are recommended literature and monographs, including visits to photographic exhibitions.

Requirements to the exam

Active participation in lectures, one powerpoint presentation REQUIREMENTS FOR PASSING

Each student must give one 10-15 minute presentation during the semester. This presentation should analyze either a specific photograph from the history of photography or a theoretical problem—a term or idea from the theory of photography. (The last slide should present the literature used.) The choice of the photograph to be analyzed is up to the student, but it must be approved by the teacher prior to the presentation.
