The aim of this course is to provide essential theoretical knowledge, practical and technological skills of television journalism with an emphasis on the new technologies. Students will acquire the basic skills of television reporter, presenter and camera operator during the seminars and excursions to the public and private news TVs. The practical part combines group work in the TV studio and individual work in the field. Students will work on practical projects – TV newscasts consisting of studio work, live reporting and developing and producing news stories.

To fulfill the requirements for the final assessment, the following is required:

  • active participation in seminars (20 %) - active participation during studio sessions, seminar activities or excursions (excursions and/or optional workshops are awarded only "negatively" - if you sign up for some optional activity, it is necessary to attend it, otherwise it will mean minus points)
  • submission of the assigned practical tasks (40 %) - will be specified during the semester; all the tasks must be submitted to Moodle
  • participation in the final newscast (10 %)
  • semestral task (20 %) - graded

Students must participate in all of the parts above, and it is required to obtain at least 50 % in each part. Every semestral task will be graded proportionally. Submitting after the deadline means a 50% penalty in grading, submitting later more than a week means 0 %.

The course consists of theoretical lectures, practical seminars and individual work.

School equipment will be available for practical tasks (cameras, sound equipment, editing room). Practical tasks will be mainly carried out individually in the student's free time. Please hand in the tasks via Moodle.

Excursions will be organized out of the scheduled time slot and will be announced in advance depending on the matter of student interest.

Conditions for signing up as an Erasmus exchange students:

  • Master's student
  • at least basic experience with TV journalism
  • the capacity is limited due to the seminar character of the course
