This subject will focus on depicting the contours of the relationship between media and policy. Using actual examples, it will acquaint the students with possible functions within the frame of political processes and actions; it will describe various types of relations and dependences between the two illusive antipodes in society. The course will acquaint the students with possibilities of analysing and critical evaluating media and political persons involved, media and political subjects. It will focus on the position of the policy in media agendas, on frequent usage of politicians as informers. It will also make an attempt to outline possible strategies of political persons involved when trying to set their themes and agendas, including (pseudo)events, strategies of promoting their interpretation of reality and using self-fulfilling prophecies. The subject should outline basic characteristics, tokens and effects of the relation of dependency between media and politics. After absolving the course, students should be able to make critical reflection of the role of media in political processes and of the role of media behaviour of political subjects.
