This subject offers a brief overview of the development of particular entertaining genres and also a description of the most important periods of their history in the USA and western Europe. It deals very briefly with this issue considering TV broadcasting in the Czech Republic. A critical analysis of certain examples of some TV programmes is a part of the course.

Předmět poskytuje stručný přehled vývoje jednotlivých zábavních formátů, ale i popis a hodnocení důležitých etap z dějin především ve Spojených státech a západní Evropě. Velmi stručně pojednává o tomto tématu i z hlediska televizního vysílání v České republice. Nedílnou součástí předmětu je kritická analýza ukázek vybraných pořadů.

Předmět je ukončen zápočtem, zaměřeným na hlavní trendy vývoje televizní zábavy. Zápočet sestává z testu o dvaceti otázkách, pro splnění předmětu je potřeba správně odpovědět nejméně na 15 z nich.
