The semiotic course is devoted to the signs and sign systems operating in communication. The stress is laid on the media communication, especially on the semantic and pragmatic dimension of the semiosis. The aim of the course is to deepen the analysis skills and widen the interpretation possibilities of the signs and sign system used in media communication.

The aim of the subject is to enrich the active participants in media discourse by semiotic knowledge helping them to produce and interpret complex communicates of the contemporary media.

The complex description of the immanent development of the semiotics with regard to the media discourse, the study of secondary literature, the functional and structural analysis of the prototypical complex communicates and media events in contemporary media discoursa, pragmatic and qualitative actualizations.

The regular and active presence during lectures accompanid by prepared inputs (incl. systemic study of semiotic themes in the Czech media production), and semiotic analysis of the chosen theme (from the List of themes) presented and defended during the oral examination.
