This course usually takes place in the winter semester. The course was created in cooperation with the FACULTY and the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, Cornell University, USA. The lectures you bring the problems faced by managers and experts in the field of human resources when designing the organizational structure of the company and qualification and in the effective management of labour. The knowledge that you have the option to get in this course, belong to the basic equipment of a modern Economist, regardless of its other focus. Completing the course students can come in handy when studying on some foreign universities, which, in some extent, focus on the "Business administration".

Aim of the course -

The aim of the course is to provide students with an overview of all relevant activities in the context of personnel management carried out by HR professionals and managers of organizations to familiarize them with the usual procedures for solving individual tasks in the framework of these activities and to teach them certain techniques and principles necessary for solving these tasks. It is about designing and building the organizational and qualification structure of the company, on the principles of effective management of the labour force, including their search, selection and dismissal of the issue of remuneration in the broadest sense of the word, about raising the skills and career development of employees, about employees care about the incentives to work and identification with the company, etc.

Syllabus -

A brief course content:

1. introduction, the overall context and the personnel policy. What is personnel management, the role of human resources management.

2. the Organization and the external environment. Monitoring and evaluation of external conditions important in terms of personnel management.

3. legal and social framework for the work of personnel management.

4. the monitoring and evaluation of the internal conditions of the work of personnel management. The organizational structure of the company (Organization) in terms of personnel management. The general nature of the work in a company (in the Organization), the acquisition of essential information on job functions.

5. Planning in the area of personnel management. Techniques for predicting the future needs of the labour force. Information on the labour force survey. Personal data, work performance and its measurement, surveys the views and attitudes of employees to the company (Organization).

6. the recruitment and selection of employees from external applicants, the effectiveness of the recruitment and selection of staff efficiency. Some aspects of the international personnel management.

7. the Role of personnel management in building up subsidiaries abroad.

8. the reduction of the workforce and the issue of the dismissal of workers. Alternatives to layoffs. Methods for creating and maintaining a stable core of employees of the company (Organization). The principle of redundancy. The cost of dismissal from employment.

9. Professional career (career) employees. Planning and management of professional career. Internal recruitment and selection of employees for the workflow.

10. Raising qualifications (training and training) of the employees. The various techniques of raising qualifications, their evaluation and measuring their effectiveness.

11. remuneration. External and internal comparison of levels of remuneration. The valuation of job functions. The objectives of the remuneration and the methods of their enforcement through the wage policy.

12. the remuneration of individual staff. Forms of group and individual stimulation in pay. The most commonly used systems of remuneration.

13. non-monetary forms of compensation: the kinds of social benefits and the use of a variety of employee benefits in a market economy. The importance of the different types of benefits and advantages for the achievement of the main objectives of the company (Organization). Regulating the costs of these benefits, and employee benefits.

14. from the perspective of the so-called pay gap. internal and external equity.

15. relations with trade unions and with the working groups: trade unions-the meaning and development. The behavior of employers against unions strategy. The formation of trade unions. Collective bargaining and the collective agreement. The failure of collective bargaining-strike, lockout. Complaints about non-compliance with the Treaty-arbitrage.

16. action, position and objectives of trade unions in the Czech Republic.
