Annotation -
Enrolment in the course takes place outside SIS. Applications for enrolment may be submitted only by students who have successfully completed Vis Moot: Arbitration in International Sale of Goods I. Successful applicants will be selected by the course coordinator (depending on the circumstances, the course capacity will be 6–10 students).
The course aims to prepare the student team for both the written and oral stages of the Vis Moot. During the semester, students study the specific competition problem, independently identify the necessary sources, and formulate arguments. Working as a team, students prepare two written submissions in English, which are a prerequisite for participation in the oral stage of the Vis Moot. Students then work on their oral presentations by practising with one another and meeting other competition teams in informal preliminary rounds known as pre-moots. Student preparation continues until the competition finals, which are held in Vienna each year during the week before Easter.
Enrolment further requires students to have English-language proficiency at level B2–C1 and, on the basis of their performance in this course, to have been selected for the team representing the Faculty of Law of Charles University in the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot (Vis Moot).

Syllabus -

The course focuses on applying the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (the CISG) to a specific model case and on two specific questions of applied procedural law in the field of international commercial arbitration. The programme for each seminar is prepared ad hoc according to the students' needs and in consultation with them. Teaching primarily takes the form of joint discussion of the legal issues and possible arguments relating to the model competition problem, together with the preparation of written submissions by students under the instructors' supervision. Students receive feedback on their written submissions, which is discussed jointly during the seminars.
