Annotation -
Pharmacognosy studies active ingredients (medicinal substances) and excipients (auxiliary substances) of natural origin intended for human and veterinary use. It deals with all aspects of natural drugs – origin, production, processing, constituents, standardization and quality control, biological activities and use in therapy, adverse effects, and interactions with other substances.

Course completion requirements -
Credit from Pharmacognosy I in the summer semester acad. year 2021-2022 consists of: a) successful 1st continuous test (includes knowledge from lectures 1-5) b) successful 2nd continuous test (includes knowledge from lectures 6-10) c) successful 3rd continuous test (includes knowledge from lectures 11-14) d) 100% attendance at practical exercises e) obtaining 96 points from tests from practical exercises (or 70% of points from the comprehensive test) f) macroscopic and microscopic identification of drugs (the list of required drugs for individual parts will be displayed in a set of practical exercises in the Study Materials)
