Enzymology is a branch of biochemistry that deals with the properties, activity, and significance of enzymes. Enzymology studies kinetics of enzymes, structure, and function, as well as their relation to each other.

Requirements to the exam

Pro úspěšné složení zkoušky jsou třeba základní znalosti o enzymech, jejich struktuře, mechanismech katalýzy, regulaci enzymové aktivity, o enzymové kinetice (stanovení kinetických parametrů K_m a V_max, grafické hodnocení kinetiky), jak může být enzymová reakce ovlivněna (vliv koncentrace substrátu, pH, teploty, aktivátory, inhibitory, typy inhibice), jak se stanovuje aktivita enzymu (podmínky, analytické metody, přímé a nepřímé stanovení aktivity), také o praktickém využití enzymů, izolaci enzymů, přípravě a studiu rekombinantních enzymů.
