Annotation -
Obligatory subject determined for students of 1st section of study in study program Pharmacy. Teaching is in form of lectures and it is realised on Department of social and clinical pharmacy with cooperation of Department of pharmaceutical technology. It is oriented on acquisition of selected basic knowledge about pharmacy and activities in pharmacy, on familiarization with basic finding in field of dosage forms and quidelines used by preparation of medicines in pharmacy. This subject served as theoretical grounding for Propaedeutical Apothecary Practice in 1st section of study and together as a preliminary subject for Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutical Care and Pharmaceutical Technology. Basic requirements to exam are good knowledge of subject and successful written test.

Pharmacy as a field. Pharmacy practice and pharmacy as a health care arrangement. Classification and content of basic and other activities in pharmacy. Patient in pharmacy and its role.Selected legislation for pharmacies – basic pharmaceutical terms, pharmaceutical basic legislation norms in European Union and CzR. Workers in pharmacy. Rights and duties of health care professionals. Hygienic regime in pharmacy. Safety of work in pharmacy. Pharmocopoeias and other basic literature used in pharmacy. European pharmocopoeia. Czech pharmocopoeia 2017. Active substancies and excipients, medicinal products. Venena, separanda, inoxia. Habituates substancies and precursors. Medical prescriptions, classification, general structure of prescription, latin abbreviations, numerals, synonyms, orientation on prescription, basic rules for use and handling, legislation for prescribing.

 

Technological part

Preparation and production of medicines. Basis operations of the preparation of medicinal products in pharmacies - weighing, dissolving, mixing, pouring, etc. Excipients - characteristics, classification, examples and properties. Packaging in pharmacy practice. Basic application  dosage forms of medicines in pharmacies - lotions, syrups, ointments, creams, etc. Prepared medicinal products in Czech Pharmacopoeia 2017.

Social part

Introduction to subject. Practical training in pharmacies – aim of practice, activities and duties of students, tasks i.e. Patient in pharmacy and its role.

Selected legislation for pharmacies – introduction, basic pharmaceutical terms. Workers in pharmacy. Rights and duties of health care professionals.

Pharmacy as a field. Pharmacy practice and pharmacy as a health care arrangement. Classification and content of basic and other activities in pharmacy.

Hygienic regime in pharmacy. Safety of work in pharmacy.

European pharmocopoeia. Pharmocopoeias and other basic literature used in pharmacy. Czech pharmocopoeia 2017.
