Annotation -

The course is based on the current global trend in health care, emphasizing bio-psycho-social approach to the patient. It introduces the issues of personality, cognition and self-knowledge, subjective perception of the illness, psychological aspects of various diseases (including mental disorders) and their therapy, psychological contexts of drug dispensation as well as desirable (and unwanted) personality traits and elements of the professional role of a healthcare professional (pharmacist). It reflects multicultural issues in the field of personality psychology.

Possibilities of psychology application in health care.
Methods commonly used in diagnostic and research.
Psychical events and processes, personality and individuality.
Cognition and self-cognition.
Solution of difficult life situations, stress, frustration, conflicts.
Health, illness and disease, problem of normality.
Psychology of a patient.
Pain, anxiety and fear perception.
Psychological aspects of treatment, medicaments and dispensation.
Professional role and personality of a pharmacist.
Relations between patients and pharmacist.
