Transfusion medicine lessons provide comprehensive and practical account of modern blood transfusion practice. The main topics are: a) practice in transfusion departments (blood donation and blood processing; production, testing, storage and quality control of blood components); b) laboratory testing (red cell, white cell and platelet antigens and antibodies, compatibility testing; c) clinical transfusion practice (principles of rational haemotherapy, indications of blood transfusion, PBM - patient blood management; d) adverse posttransfusion reactions and complications; e) plasma derivates.
