Annotation

Topic is focused on the introduction of students to basic principles of clinical pharmacology and to selected chapters of clinical usage of drugs. Case reports from clinical practice, demonstrations of therapeutic guidelines and new drugs within the area of interest are commonly presented during courses and lectures.

1. Clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics: the importance for individualized pharmacotherapy.
2. Interindividual and intraindividual variability in patienťs response to pharmacotherapy. The role of genetic polymorphism in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
3. Clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in oncology.
4. Clinical pharmacology of adverse and toxic effects, drug-drug interactions.
5. Clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
6. Dosage regimen prediction based on the pharmacokinetic principle: therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and its usage in pharmacotherapy. Demonstration and practical exercises.
7. Clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of hypertension.
8. Clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of diabetes mellitus.
9. Clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy of asthma and allergy. Drug delivery systems.
10. Clinical pharmacology of anticoagulant agents.
