Introduction to subject. Toxic effects. Mechanism of action. Absorption, distribution, biotransformation and excretion of toxic agents, their interactions.
Toxic exposures from environmental and occupational setting (hydrocarbons and their derivatives, toxic metals). Effects of selected organic and inorganic compounds.
Alcohols (methanol, ethanol, glycols), drugs of abuse (stimulants, opioids, hallucinogens). Mechanisms of their action, risk to health.
Introduction to toxicology of plants, mushrooms and animals. Selected alkaloids, terpenes, saponines, risk to health.
