Annotation -
The course Simulation Medicine uses advanced simulation technologies to train the diagnosis and management of acutely ill patients in a safe and controlled environment. Students work in small groups, mastering the ABCDE approach, both basic and advanced practical skills, and non-technical skills, including communication, teamwork, and situation awareness. The course combines theoretical preparation via e-learning, practical lessons, and structured audio-visual debriefing after each scenario to support reflection and performance improvement.

It builds upon the First Aid and Basics of Clinical Medicine and Nursing courses.

Learning outcomes -

During the course, the student will:

 • acquire the knowledge required to perform primary assessment and treatment of a patient at risk of vital function failure,
 • practise the necessary procedures on a simulator in a safe environment, without risk to the patient and with the possibility of repeated training,
 • master practical skills ranging from basic procedures (e.g., peripheral venous cannulation) to complex interventions (e.g., management of a critically ill child),
 • develop teamwork and non-technical skills, including leadership, cooperation, ability to seek advice, situation awareness, task management, and crisis management,
 • reflect on their performance and identify areas for improvement through structured debriefing and feedback,
 • demonstrate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in simulated clinical situations.
