The aim of the core elective subject Molecular Oncology is to mediate recent progress in the molecular biology of cancer and how this progress is reflected in improved diagnosis, better prognostic evaluations and especially new therapeutic modalities, with a focus on targeted tumour therapy. Three seminars will be held and the credits will be granted based on an active participation on the seminars.

1. Introduction into molecular biology of cancer (oncogenes, tumour suppressor genes, multistep tumour development, oncogenic signal transduction)

2. Principles of tumour therapy (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy)

3. Targeted tumour therapy explained on selected examples
