The course offers an introduction to contemporary medical terminology and equips students with the essential knowledge needed to navigate the technical terminology of theoretical, preclinical, and clinical disciplines.
It introduces the fundamentals of the Latin grammatical system (including the declension of nouns and adjectives, comparison of adjectives, and the use of numerals) that are necessary for mastering anatomical and clinico-pathological terminology. The course also emphasizes the basic principles of word formation (derivation and composition), with focused instruction on prefixes, suffixes, and Greek and Latin word roots. Through the analysis of linguistic structures, students gain a foundational understanding of medical terms and acquire the core technical vocabulary required for further study and professional practice.
