Students will learn and understand how to differentiate between the basic types of tissues, cells, and extracellular matrix according to their microscopic structure. In the practical classes, the students will optical microscope for identification and description of histological slides.

The summer semester is finished by a credit. Acquiring credit for the summer and then the winter semester (2nd year) is a condition for being admitted to the exam in 2nd year.

Summary of the lectures. General histology. General medicine 1st year:

1. INTRODUCTION: History of Histology. Revision of Cytology. Plasma membrane. Cell junctions. Organelles.

2. TISSUES AND THEIR TYPES: Epithelial tissue. General characteristics. Classification of epithelia according to their arrangement.

3. EPITHELIAL TISSUE: Classification according to function. Glandullar epithelium.

4. CONNECTIVE TISSUE: General characteristics. Connective tissue proper. Cells , fibres and ground substance.

5. TYPES OF CONNECTIVE TISSUE PROPER. CARTILAGE: Hyaline, elastic, fibrocartilage.

6. BONE: Microscopic structure of bones. The cells of bone. Ossification. Histogenesis of bone.

7. BLOOD I.: Formed elements of blood. Erythrocytes, Leukocytes.

8. BLOOD II.: Lymphocytes and their immune role. Blood platelets. Hemopoiesis.

9. MUSCULAR TISSUE: Smooth muscle. Striated muscle Cardiac Muscle.

10. NERVOUS TISSUE I.: Structure of the neuron. The synapse and the relationship of neurons. Terminal nerve endings.

11. NERVOUS TISSUE II.: Neuroglia. Recapitulation of the whole topic of tissues.

12. CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM: Arteries. Veins. The heart.

13. LYMPHATIC SYSTEM: Lymphatic vessels. Lymph nodes. Thymus. Spleen.

14. ENDOCRINE SYSTEM: Hypophysis. Thyroid gland. Parathyroid glands. Suprarenal gland. Pineal gland – Epiphysis.

Summary of the practical sessions. General histology. General medicine 1st year:

1. Introduction: The rules of health security during the teaching process of Histology. Histological techniques.

2. Epithelial tissues I.: Simple and stratified epithelia (epidermis, oesophagus, duodenum, thyroid gland, kidney).

3. Epithelial tissues II.: Pseudostratified, transitional and specialized epithelium (trachea, urinary bladder, adrenal cortex).

4. Epithelial tissues III.: Serous and mucous glands (parotid gland, Brunner's gland in duodenum), glands in the skin (planta pedis, axilla, eye lid, labia maiora).

5. The TEST. Recapitulation of the previous topic.

6. Connective tissue: Collagenous, elastic, reticular, mucous (spleen, skin, vessels, kidney – impregnation, umbilical cord).

7. Connective tissue II: Cartilage and bone (trachea, pinna, epiglottis, ossification, embryonic tissues, teeth demonstration including tooth development).

8. Hematology: Diagnostic of the blood smear. Arneth's line, Hynek's numeral.

9. Muscular tissue: Smooth, skeletal and cardiac muscle (muscular artery and vein, oviduct, esophagus, uterus, tongue, myocardium).

10. Nervous tissue I.: Neural elements of the CNS (cerebral cortex, spinal cord, cerebellum).

11. Nervous tissue II.: Neuroglia, peripheral nerve and its sheaths. Revision of slides. Examination.

12. Blood vessels and the heart (myocardium, aorta, femoral artery, artery and vein of the lower extremity, vessels of various organs, capillaries).

13. The TEST.

14. Revision of the whole topic. Course credit.

1. Úvod (historie a význam oboru). Buňka (membrána, spojení bb., organely, přijímání látek).

2. Tkáně (klasifikace). Epitely (podle uspořádání).

3. Epitely (podle funkce - žlázy).

4. Vazivo (buňky, vlákna, základní hmota).

5. Vazivo (typy vaziva). Chrupavka (hyalinní, elastická, vazivová).

6. Kost (struktura, osifikace).

7. Krev (erytrocyty, leukocyty).

8. Krev (lymfocyty, destičky, hematopoeza).

9. Svaly (hladké, příčně pruhované, srdeční).

10. Nervy (neuron, synapse, zakončení).

11. Nervy (neuroglia). Shrnutí tkání.

12. Kardiovaskulární systém (arterie, vény, srdce).

13. Lymfatický systém (lymfatické cévy, uzliny, slezina, thymus).

Sylabus praktických cvičení z histologie pro I. ročník všeobecného lékařství:

1. Úvod. Organizace praktik, zásady bezpečnosti práce při výuce, histologická technika.

2. Epitely I.: Epitely vícevrstevné a jednovrstevné (epidermis, oesophagus, duodenum, gl. thyreoidea, ren).

3. Epitely II.: Epitel víceřadý cylindrický, přechodný, trámčitý (trachea, vesica urinaria, gl. suprarenalis).

4. Epitely III.: Žlázy serózní a mucinózní (gl. parotis, duodenum), žlázy kožní (axilla, palpebra, labia majora).

5. TEST. Opakování probrané látky.

6. Pojivová tkáň I.: Vazivo kolagenní, elastické, retikulární, rosolovité (lien, cutis, arteria et vena, ren, funiculus umbilicalis).

7. Pojivová tkáň II.: Chrupavka a kost (trachea, auris, epiglottis, osifikace, demonstrace zubů včetně embryonálních preparátů).

8. Hematologie: Hodnocení krevního nátěru, Arnethova řada, Hynkovo jaderné číslo.

9. Svalová tkáň: Svalstvo hladké, příčně pruhované, srdeční (arteria et vena, tuba uterina, oesophagus, uterus, lingua, myocardium).

10. Tkáň nervová I.: Nervové elementy CNS (medulla spinalis, cerebellum, cerebrum).

11. Tkáň nervová II.: Neuroglie, nervus periphericus. Opakování probraných preparátů, zkoušení.

12. Krevní cévy a srdce (myocardium, aorta, a. femoralis, arteria et vena, orgánové cévy, kapiláry).
