Expressive therapies belong to the most modern methods of psychotherapeutic work with client. Part of the training
will be methods of music therapy, art therapy, bibliotherapy, dance and movement therapy and occupational
therapy in application on wider spectrum of clients. Students will have the opportunity to try techniques on
themselves, to learn to compile therapeutic programmes according to clinical diagnostics both in individual and
group therapy. Training is presenting case interpretations. Course is also focused on memory training, handling
stress and prevention of burnout syndrome for future doctors.

Syllabus – Expressive therapies in medicine
Facultative subject is recommended for students of 4th year, but also students of 5th and 6th year can register

Subject scale: clock tuition - 20 hours (12 hours of lectures, 8 hours of seminars) – once in a week on Wednesday from 14.00 (3 – 3,5 hours block),

Music therapy: trends, methods, techniques of therapeutic work with client, music therapy and communication techniques, verbal and non-verbal communication, music therapy and work with aggressive clients
Art therapy: drawing as a communication tool in group and individual art therapy, work with mandala, diagnostics of drawing, psychological aspect of colours, techniques of clients´ activization a development of communication skills
Bibliotherapy – work with a story in bibliotherapy, story as a tool of self-knowledge, work with voice and communication techniques, imaginary techniques and clients´ activization
Dance and movement therapy – body language, client´s activization, specifics at movement therapy with clients with somatic disabilities, practical training, choice of suitable music according to clients´ specifics, breathing techniques
Occupational therapy – sensational system, application of combined techniques focused on individual senses and on sensational system, treatment by environment, work with rough and soft motor activity
Expressive therapies and memory training techniques – art therapy, music therapy, bibliotherapy, occupational therapy, dance and movement therapy and its connection to modern techniques of memory training
