Annotation -
Histology has bored countless generations of students by now. The course aims to counter that by highlighting microscopy and histology techniques useful in physiology, experimental medicine on animal models, and in clinical practice. It may be viewed as preparatory to the compulsory “Imaging Techniques” (Summer Term in year 3). The course will be given in English (by a Czech speaker) but is open to everybody, regardless of their native tongue. Every student is free to de-register (‘run away’) from the course, anytime.
Last update: Pelc Radek, RNDr., D.Phil. (06.09.2024)
Aim of the course -

Proper understanding of non-standard microscopic imaging modalities and histological techniques, and their limitations in experimental medicine on animal models and clinical practice.

Last update: Pelc Radek, RNDr., D.Phil. (30.08.2024)
Course completion requirements -

Attending at least 50% of classes, and ONE of the following tasks [A, B or C] of student’s choice:

[A] Brief oral presentation (in Czech, English or Russian): Rephrasing ≥10 teacher's slides of student’s choice (see “SAMPLE-PRESENTATION” in “FILES”).

[B] Excursion to Purkyně’s exposition (Libochovice or Blatná Castle) + brief discussion about the course (feedback).

[C] Help with setting up microscopes or optimizing micrographs/drawings (depending on current need, max. ½ day).

Deadline for "winter"/”summer” students: 15 May / 15 July

Concessions may be granted to responsible (actively participating) students.
