Syllabus -

Introduction to adult cardiac surgery. Operations for ischaemic heart disease (with the use of cardiopulmonary bypass, "beating heart / off-pump" surgery). Less invasive / minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Valvular procedures (mechanical heart valve prostheses, bioprostheses, valvular plasty). Peri-operative management. Aneurysms of thoracic aorta, dissections. Cardiac trauma.
