The course Neurobehavioral Sciences II builds on Neurobehavioral Sciences I and expands its topics. In the fifth year, it covers clinical aspects of neurology, psychiatry, and neurosurgery, supplemented by neuroimaging, pharmacology, and neuro-oncology. Teaching takes place partly at clinical departments to acquire both basic and specialty practical skills of the respective fields.
See http://vyuka.lf3.cuni.cz — Neurobehavioral Sciences II C5VL012 for course information and details of individual teaching units.

The objective of the Neurobehavioral Sciences II course is to deepen the knowledge and practical skills acquired in Neurobehavioral Sciences I and to extend them in the diagnosis and therapeutic management of nervous system disorders required of a medical school graduate. An interdisciplinary approach—linking neurology, neurosurgery, and psychiatry, and supplemented by neuroradiology and pharmacology—will provide students with a coherent theoretical understanding of the diagnosis, treatment, and organization of care for neuropsychiatric disorders. This foundation will support the acquisition and mastery of clinical skills in managing patients with neuropsychiatric disorders, including the selection of primary diagnostic methods and appropriate therapeutic interventions

The course is completed with a credit. To obtain the credit, students must obtain 3 partial credits for Neurology, Psychiatry, and Neurosurgery. Neurology partial credit: 80% attendance at mandatory teaching activities + practical skills assessment: perform a neurological examination of a patient, make syndromic, topographic, and etiologic diagnoses, indicate appropriate ancillary neurological methods and use their results in diagnosis, and choose basic therapy. Psychiatry partial credit: 80% attendance at mandatory teaching activities (including pharmacology practical exercises) + practical skills assessment: perform a comprehensive psychiatric examination of a patient, assess current psychopathology, establish a working diagnosis and outline differential diagnoses, propose further investigations, and recommend a therapeutic plan. Neurosurgery partial credit: 80% attendance at practical exercises. The credit is granted on the last day of the course (usually at the Department of Psychiatry) and is awarded after all partial credits have been completed. The course Neurobehavioral Sciences II — C5VL012 is concluded by the state final exam in neurosciences, delivered as a separate course Neurobehavioral Sciences II — C5VL023 (see that course for details on the state exam).
