Aim of the course -
The aim of the Neurobehavioral Sciences I course is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the clinical manifestations and basic diagnostic principles of neurobehavioral disorders, complemented by knowledge of their etiopathogenesis. A multidisciplinary approach—integrating preclinical and clinical disciplines—will give students a solid theoretical foundation in the presentation and causes of neurobehavioral disorders. This foundation will support the acquisition and development of essential clinical skills for working with patients with nervous system disorders, including taking medical histories, performing basic clinical examinations, and formulating syndromic diagnoses

Course completion requirements -

Credits are awarded for attendance and active participation in clinical seminars with controlled attendance and practical exercises.
To obtain credit, it is necessary to submit a "Certificate" with "sub-credits" - i.e., with the signatures of the teachers of ENT, neurology, and the psychiatric block (psychiatry and pharmacology).
The condition for obtaining a sub-credit from ENT is participation in 80% of the compulsory form of teaching.
The condition for obtaining a sub-credit from neurology is participation in 80% of the compulsory form of teaching (practical exercises, internships, and compulsory seminars - marked as such in the relevant teaching units), successful practical examination of a patient's neurological examination, and successful application of basic knowledge of general neurology in the analysis of cases (syndromological and topical diagnostics).
The condition for obtaining a sub-credit in the psychiatric block (includes psychiatry and pharmacology practice) is 80% attendance at practical exercises and clinical seminars, with compulsory attendance.
The credit for the entire NBV I is awarded by a teacher from the Department of Psychiatry during the last teaching unit upon completion of sub-credits in ENT, neurology, and psychiatry, as confirmed in the Certificate

The certificate of completion will be distributed by the teacher on the first day of the module (usually Dr. Novák), or it can be downloaded from Vyuka app, Course Information

Absences, changes to the course schedule, or other requests should always be directed to the teaching representatives of the individual clinics (neurology, psychiatry, ENT) if they concern the entire course or a large part of it. The clinics have different capacities and are organized differently for the practical parts of the course. If the changes concern only a shorter section, it is possible to consult only with the relevant section/clinic. For details, please see the e-timetable.

The course ends with a test/exam. The test cannot be taken without prior credit (please check your credit status well in advance of the exam).

Another requirement is to pass the exam in the course General Fundamentals of Pathology and Pathophysiology and the course Introduction to Clinical Medicine, which is also a requirement for participation in the course from 2025/26, see below Prerequisites/Entry requirements.
