Aim of the course

The aim is to obtain theoretical and practical knowledge of prosthetic dentistry -examination of the patient, treatment plan of prosthetic rehabilitation, preprosthetic adjustment of teeth and jaws, treatment with fixed and removable dentures. Types of dental defects and basic types of dentures. Crown and bridge reconstructions, removable partial and complete dentures. Prosthetic materials. Interdisciplinary cooperation and preventive aspects of prosthetic dentistry.

Regulation for credits - prosthodontic subjects

Prosthodontics in Dental Medicine 2

1) Participation in practices - two absences tolerated per semester (sikness - confirmated by doctor, exeptional situation)

2) Participation in seminars - two absences tolerated per semester (sikness - confirmated by doctor, exeptional situation)

3) Passing a credit test, min 65% of correct answers plus interview with a teacher

  4. Mechanical and aesthetic properties of different CAD/CAM ceramic materials.
  5. Complete dentures, new technology. Intraoral scanner for complete dentures.
  6. Esthetic evaluation of shape, size and colour of artificial teeth.
  7. Fiber/glass/ceramic posts - properties and clinical indications.
  8. Fracture of ceramics - causes, prevention.
  9. Luting materials - types, indications, working procedures.
  10. PEEK - properties, clinical indications, manufacturing methods.
  11. 3D printing in the dental practice.
  12. Digital, conventional or hybrid workflow for fixed prosthodontics.
  13. Digitization in removable prosthodontics, facial scanning, new shape of clasp, CAD, the role of the dentist.
  14. Overdenture tooth and implant-born. Periodontal receptors.
  15. Digitization in dental implantology, span of life of the prosthetic treatment on implants.
  16. Postoperative care in RPDs, complete dentures, overdentures.
  17. Contemporary design of telescope and conus crowns as retainers for partial removable denture prostheses.
  18. Diagnostic appointment, different treatment plan and its modification by budget plan, overtreatment.
  19. Modern workflow in intermaxillary relationship determination and its influence on the preciseness of the produced denture, consequences of errors when they are inaccurately established.
  20. Contraindications of metals in prosthodontics. Non-metallic prosthetic systems and possibilities of complete non-metallic teeth reconstruction.
