Annotation
The course will present contemporary Lithuanian art (from 1960 to the present). It is a series of survey lectures on Lithuanian art, design, photography, literature, classical and popular music, film, theatre and television.
Courses of this kind on Lithuanian or Baltic culture have not yet been prepared and implemented.

Aim of the course

The aim of the lectures is not only to present the cultural life in Soviet and independent Lithuania, but also to reveal its uniqueness, to help understand that Lithuanian art and culture developed independently, influenced by national traditions and tendencies of Western Europe, not by Soviet ideology.

Course completion requirements

The student will be able to orientate himself/herself in the trends of contemporary Lithuanian art, to describe their most important features. The student will be able to analyse the features of the chosen branch of art in depth. 

The course is paid for by preparing and presenting a topic of choice of student (on an particular artist or a specific sub-topic). The presentation should not be very long (about 10 minutes). During the exams session there will be a short conversation - your reflection based on the material you have heard during the course.
