The course introduces students to practical solutions to the problems encountered in school practice. Through the analysis of specific case studies, the skills of pedagogical and psychological analysis, the use of pedagogical and psychological diagnostic including differential diagnostic are developed. On this basis, ways of dealing with problematic school situations, specific pedagogical or psychological intervention and their effectiveness are identified. The course aims to cultivate teacher's sensitivity to each student and his/her needs.

The Case Study Seminar in Psychology is taken after or concurrently with the teaching practice. The requirements for the students are specified on the basis of the needs of their teaching practice.

In order to complete the course, a case study of a student or classroom has to be presented. Emphasis is on pedagogical and psychological analysis and design of educational intervention (considering their effectiveness and possible pitfalls).

The content of the seminar is based on actual problems of school practice that students encounter in their own teaching practice - e.g. Analysis of school failure, learning difficulties, lack of motivation, changes in performance, behavioural disorders, aggression, inappropriate behaviour in and out of school, problematic teacher-student relationships, difficulties in cooperation with parents, or problems such as anorexia, truancy, bullying, drug abuse, etc.
