Annotation -
The B1 examination tests active language competence at the B1 level of the CEFR, focusing on reception, production, interaction, and mediation.

Students demonstrate the ability to communicate independently in everyday situations, express opinions, understand main ideas, and mediate basic information between people and cultures.
The exam is intended for Faculty of Arts students.

Aim of the course -

The aim of the exam is to verify whether the student has achieved level B1 in both receptive and productive skills.

Course completion requirements -

Written Section (approx. 75 minutes) 

  • Listening Comprehension
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Written Expression 

Assessment: The written section is worth a total of 35 points. To pass, students must achieve at least 60% (i.e., 21 points) overall, with a minimum of 50% in each component. Upon fulfilling these minimum criteria, the student proceeds to the oral part of the exam.

Oral Section (approx. 15 minutes) 

The oral examination consists of the following tasks: 

  • The student briefly talks about themselves, their studies, and their interests.
  • The student responds to a given situation.
  • In both parts, the student answers the examiner’s questions. 

Form: monologue and dialogue/interaction 

During the oral exam, the student is expected to: 

  • provide a simple description (e.g., of a person, place, or experience);
  • express and briefly justify an opinion;
  • compare two things or situations;
  • engage in routine conversation (e.g., shopping, ordering, making plans, or inviting someone). 

Students are given time to prepare before the exam. 

Assessment: The oral section is worth a total of 15 points. The minimum passing score is 8 points. 

Overall Assessment 

The total number of points for the entire examination is 50. To pass, students must achieve a minimum of 60%, i.e., 30 points in total.
