Annotation -
The exam examines productive and receptive skills in the particular language at the level B2. There are two parts – written and speaking.
The written part (60 points)
- Listening comprehension (12 points)
- Reading comprehension (12 points)
- Use of English (18 points)
- Writing (18 points)

The speaking part (40 points)
- Evaluation of the written part
- Discussion in English - the topic close to the academic environment
- Structured presentation of the chosen specialized text and discussion
- Interpretation

The length of the specialized text is 20 standard pages.
The text must be related to the student’s studies. The text can be consulted with an examiner beforehand (highly advisable if students are in doubt). The author of the text must be a native speaker of the particular language or published by a reputable publisher/academic journal, the source of the text cannot be, e.g., an anonymous website, Wikipedia, etc., and the text must not be a translation from a different language. The text can be taken from, e.g., two different sources; if photocopied, the pages with the title, information on the author(s), and bibliography (editor, publisher, year of the edition).<br>
The speaking part takes place on the same day as the written part or the following days (usually within one week after the written part).

Course completion requirements -

Written part (60 points)
- Listening comprehension (12 points)
- Reading comprehension (12 points)
- Grammar and lexis test (18 points)
- Essay (18 points)
The minimum score for advancement to the oral part is 36 (60% pass rate). A minimum of 50% points must be obtained in each part of the text, otherwise the written part will be marked as failed.

Oral part (40 points)

- a written summary of the selected academict text in points
- a list of selected 3-5 key words
- a structured  spoken presentation of the chosen professional text
- work with the text - interpretation of selected passages, supplementary questions, explanation of concepts

The written preparation should be submitted on the day of the exam.

Syllabus - Czech

Jedná se o samostatnou zkoušku, která má za cíl ověřit samostatné užívání angličtiny na úrovni B2 dle CEFR v oblasti recepce (porozumění čtenému a mluvenému textu), produkce (písemný a ústní projev na obecná i akademicky zaměřená témata), interakce a mediace (mediace textu, mediace konceptů, mediace komunikace).

Zkouška se skládá z písemné a ústní části (podrobněji viz Podmínky zakončení předmětu).

Learning outcomes - Czech

Po absolvování zkoušky bude student v anglicky psaném textu i mluveném projevu umět:

  • porozumět hlavním myšlenkám textů na konkrétní i abstraktní, obecná i akademicky zaměřená témata;
  • aplikovat ve svém projevu vhodné jazykové prostředky (lexikální i gramatické) s dostatečnou přesností a plynulostí, umožňující bez větších obtíží komunikaci v různých situacích;
  •  identifikovat v textu hlavní myšlenky a klíčová slova; odlišit fakta od názorů;
  •  vyjádřit názor s uvedením výhod a nevýhod různých možností
  • přizpůsobit styl komunikace různým sociálním situacím (např. vysvětlit specifika svého oboru laikovi)
