Annotation
The course will introduce the main language phenomena in Scandinavia. The focus will be equally distributed between Denmark, Norway and Sweden. In addition, selected peripheral topics will be included as well, covering areas such as Iceland.
Main topic:
• Loanwords in Scandinavian languages (main tendencies, adoption criteria, anglicisms)
• The role of dialects in Scandinavia
• Language contact (diachronic and synchronic perspectives)
• Klarspråk
• Minority languages in Scandinavia (history, current status)
