The course assumes that students have a command of Danish at approximately B2 level.
The aim of the course is to raise students' level of spoken and written language and their theoretical understanding of the Danish language, culture and society. This course has a special focus on conversation and the following topics: 1) Current trends in Danish: vocabulary, language policy, strong/weak verbs, etc. 2) Stylistics: linguistic variations, stylistic devices, stylistically defined vocabulary (geographical, social, time-defined, characterised by expressiveness, words with stylistically higher/lower connotations, newspaper language The course relies on active participation, and students have the opportunity to contribute to the choice of materials and activities, based, for example, on their thesis work.
